Begin your day in Northam with
an unforgettable hot air balloon
昀氀ight, drifting like a dream above
rolling hills, lush 昀椀elds and winding
streams. From April to November,
both Liberty Balloon Flights and
Windward Ballooning offer this
breathtaking experience followed
by breakfast, creating memories
that last a lifetime.
Make the journey to the historic
town of York. In the spring, golden
canola 昀椀elds and wild昀氀owers line
the way. Collect maps at the Visitor
Centre and embark on one of three
self-guided walks: Grand Designs,
exploring the heritage facades
of the main street; Hidden Gems,
revealing charming side streets; or
Convicts and Crossings, tracing the
footsteps of early settlers. Pause for
lunch at the welcoming Imperial
Homestead, renowned for hearty
country fare.
Your afternoon ends in Beverley,
where the art trail leads you past
murals, sculptures, galleries and
studios. As evening falls, look up,
Beverley’s dark skies offer some
of the best stargazing in Western
Australia.
Begin day one with a scenic drive
through rolling valley 昀椀elds into
the Avon Valley. If travelling in late
winter or spring, stop at PetTeet Park
and capture the golden glow of
their canola 昀椀elds.
Continue your drive, arriving
in Goomalling where you can
enjoy a spot of shopping at Lot 39
Store & Café. Take a look around
this historic town before making
your way to Toodyay. Drop into
the Visitor Centre for maps, then
wander Charcoal Lane to see
vibrant murals.
Refuel at the award-winning
Toodyay Bakery before a selfguided walk. Highlights include
Connor’s Mill, Newcastle Gaol
Museum and the historic Stirling
Terrace. Later, taste the region’s
昀氀avours with mead at Alicia Estate
Winery & Restaurant, organic spirits
at Roam Distillery, or heritage wines
at Coorinja Winery.
Stay overnight in a cosy
Heyscape cabin, at Sandalwood
Downs Farm Stay or have an
eco outback farm experience
with Boshack Outback. If you
prefer something closer to
town, the Toodyay Hotel offers
comfortable rooms.

On day two, rise early and
head to Northam for a sunrise
hot air balloon 昀氀ight followed by
breakfast (April–November) with
Liberty Balloon Flights or Windward
Ballooning. Visit the awardwinning Bilya Koort Boodja Centre
for insights into Noongar culture
and sustainable land practices.
Lunch at The Rec Hotel, then walk a
section of the Dorntj Koorliny Track.
In the afternoon, saddle up with
Green Gables Stables or admire
the silo murals along the Public
Silo Trail. Enjoy dinner at The
Imperial Homestead which offers
heritage charm.
Spend your 昀椀nal day in York, WA's
oldest inland town. Stroll along
Avon Terrace past landmarks like
St Patrick’s Church and the York
Courthouse. Discover quirky tales on
a self-guided ghost tour, or browse
the York Motor Museum. Shop at the
Flour Mill Emporium, The Good Life
Store, and Barclay Books and enjoy
lunch at a bakery or pub.
