Moore River Region
ABUNDANT IN COUNTRY CHARM AND COASTAL COOLS, THE MOORE
RIVER REGION HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE WITH ITS PRISTINE
BEACHES, RIVERBANK HINTERLAND AND COLONIAL COUNTRY TOWNS.
GINGIN
A gateway between Perth’s
northern country towns and the
oceanic coast, Gingin is one of
WA’s oldest towns. It offers a step
back to Perth’s colonial past, with
plenty of old-time charm.
Explore the town’s rich history
on a walking trail that includes the
Gingin Hotel (dating back to 1903),
St Luke’s Anglican Church and Bell
Tower, and St Catherine’s Catholic
Church. Walking trail maps are
available from the local Visitor
Centre, open Monday to Friday.
At the heart of town, you’ll find
beautiful Granville Park, which
is a vista of manicured lawns
surrounded by preserved heritage
buildings. The gentle churning of
the Gingin Brook via the park’s
water wheel is an inviting back
drop for a bite to eat. CU@Park
Café, located right within the park,
is the perfect stop for coffee or a
heartier meal.
In the afternoon, head to
Caladenia Mini Golf before cooling
off with a gelato from Local Goat,
producers of award-winning
dairy products made with farm
fresh goats milk including cheese
and yoghurt.
As the sun sets, head to the
Gravity Discovery Centre. Under
the stars, learn from astronomers
and Indigenous elders about
dreamtime storytelling and ancient
astronomy.
GUILDERTON
Spend a day on the water in
Guilderton, where the Moore River
meets the Indian Ocean.
The local estuary is ideal for
aquatic activity. Take a boat cruise
and float down the meandering
waterways to appreciate the
incredible unspoilt natural vistas or
embark on a riverside walking trail.
You’ll likely see keen anglers set
up on the banks, with the riverbed
boasting inlets ideal for fishing
conditions and clear waters for
safe swimming.
Later, grab a bite to eat at the
local general store or country club,
before exploring the many beach
– GARBAN
fronts, with the Guilderton coast the
perfect place to take in a sunset
over the Indian Ocean.
SEABIRD
For calm coastal vibes, head
further north of Guilderton to
Seabird. Once a fisherman’s town
inhabited by the crews of local
lobster boats, it’s retained plenty of
its original charm.
Traverse sandy beaches, throw
a line in the ocean or enjoy a
meal with ocean views at the local
tavern.
LEDGE POINT
Offering a central point from which
to explore the greater Moore River
region, Ledge Point is in great
proximity for day trips to Guilderton,
Gingin and Lancelin.
Ledge Point has outstanding
conditions for a wide range of
water sports and has a rich history
of servicing the local fishing and
cray fishing industries, popular
with anglers for both beach and
offshore fishing.
LANCELIN
LANCELIN DUNES
Aquatic adventure abounds in
Lancelin, where wave and wind
conditions combine to create
a mecca for water sports. The
small town is particularly known
for its excellent windsurfing, but
conditions are also ideal for
swimming, fishing, boating and
sailing, while impressive dunes
beckon sandboarders.
Divers and snorkellers can take
advantage of a string of fourteen
shipwrecks, as well as local reefs
and marine life. You can also spot
rare sea lions and dolphins visiting
the bay.
